Getting Organized requires a commitment to get and stay organized
Getting organized is a commitment! If you want to simplify your life, better organization can help you get there. You didn’t get disorganized overnight, right? Getting organized takes time and it will take a commitment to set aside the time and do the work that it will take to get organized once and for all. It may require that you change some habits and the way you do things. But in the end you will simplify your life and have more time to enjoy the things you love to do. Once you get serious about getting organized you will need to make a commitment to being organized and staying organized. You can commit to yourself and/or your loved ones that you are going to learn how to live your life so that you can stay organized. Its kind of like a diet, the crash diets are just that. The lasting weight loss comes from changing your lifestyle. Same is true with getting organized. Here is a start on a commitment that you can make to yourself. Feel free to edit, modify to fit your needs, but then sign it, commit to it and stick by it. You will be glad that you did! Hiring professional help to guide and coach you is a smart decision. You will get it done in half the time, will learn from an expert and maybe even have some fun in the process of getting organized.
I, ______________________ (fill in your name) commit to keeping my life organized. I want to break my old habits that are getting in the way of enjoying my life as fully as possible. I commit to doing the work that it will take to do things in a different way so that I don’t end up with a disorganized situation again in 6 months. I really do want to simplify my life through better organization. I will stop berating myself for the way that I am and focus instead on who I want to be. I will commit myself to being the person I want to be and leave the past behind me. I will work to stop doing the behaviors that got me into this mess in the first place - buying unnecessary items or being reluctant to let go of things that I no longer want or need. I will strive to make better, more conscious choices in the future. I will commit myself to keeping my life organized and do something everyday to sustain that commitment. I will reward myself for a job well done and remind myself how good that feels. I will not strive to be perfect and acknowledge that there will be slips, but I will commit myself to trying to do my best everyday. I will ask for help when I need it, and not expect that I have to do it all myself. I will strive to learn how to be more organized and recognize that it is a skill that I can learn not some unreachable goal that I can never attain. I will stop comparing myself to others and recognize that I am a worthy individual and my way of doing things is just fine as long as it is working for me. I will focus on being better each day and doing the best that I can each day. I will remind myself of the reasons why I wanted to get organized in the first place when I feel like giving up. As of right now, those reasons are: ____________________________________ ____________________________________ ____________________________________
