If you are fortunate enough to have the problem of needing to figure out how to organize your kids toys, be grateful. Our kids have so many toys that sometimes it seems like they are everywhere and out of control. Here are some ideas for how to organize them and tame the overwhelming amount of toys in your home.
- If you have more toys around then your kids are playing with, sort them out and take them into to sell or donate. Here is a listing of places you can take them. As I’m writing this, its getting near to Christmas time and your donation may really help a family who is struggling to make it a merry Christmas for their kids.
- Rotate your kids toys...take a large clear bin and put away 1/3 of the toys in the bin. Put the bin away someplace where your kids can’t find it. Then in a month, swap out that bin and pick out another 1/3 of the toys and put them in the bin. It makes it seem like they are all new again and it also helps with the amount of toys. Here is a little toy humor about what you don’t want in your kids room:

- For the toys that they play with all the time, make it really easy for them to pick them up and begin a habit of “clean up” every night before bedtime. You can make it really easy for them by having open containers for the toys that they can drop them into. For the toys that have lots of small pieces and parts, a toy organizer like this works great:

Its a great lesson to teach your kids to pick up their toys and to keep them organized. They will learn at an early age how nice it is to have their things organized and easy to find. It’s also a great lesson to learn that if they take them all out, they have to put them back.
